Qantas opts for more DHC-8-400s
Qantas has announced it has opted for adding more DHC-8-400s as final part of its fleet renewal plans. In total, the airline will acquire fourteen more DHC-8-400s which it will use to replace its current fleet of older DHC-8-200s and -300s.
The first of the new aircraft is expected to arrive before the end of the year. It's currently unknown where the aircraft are sourced from.
Today, the fleet of Dashes is flying under the QantasLink-brand and operated by either Eastern Australia Airlines or Sunstate Airlines. QantasLink has a fleet made-up of three DHC-8-200s, sixteen DHC-8-300s, and 31 DHC-8-400s.
According to the airline, standardising on the DHC-8-400 will bring "further scale benefits and efficiencies for QantasLink, including lower maintenance and operating costs".
