B779 Qatar 640Qatar Airways increases B777X-orders

During the 2024 Farnborough Air Show, Boeing announced that Qatar Airways has increased its B777X-orders with an order for another 20 B777-9s. With this latest order, Qatar now has orders for 94 B777Xs.

The order was already on the books with Boeing but was listed under an undisclosed customer. No delivery timeline has been communicated.

Earlier this month, Boeing announced it has started final certification for its troubled B777-9. Deliveries to customers are expected to begin late 2025 or early 2026.

Qatar Airways is planning to order more aircraft early next year and eyes a significant order to renew and expend its fleet. Today, the airline holds orders with Boeing (next to the 94 B777Xs) for twelve B787s and 25 B737MAXs. With Airbus, it holds orders for 50 A321neos and eighteen A350-1000s.

The current fleet of Qatar Airways is made-up of 29 A320s, three A330-200s, seven A330-300s, 34 A350-900s, 24 A350-1000s, eight A380s, nine B737-8s, seven B777-200LRs, 57 B777-300ERs, 28 B777Fs, 30 B787-8s, and eighteen B787-9s.
