Rex Airlines enters administration
Rex Airlines has announced it has, voluntary, entered into administration in an effort to restructure the airline. As a result, the airline has halted Boeing B737-operations and grounding them. Their Saab 340-operations remain unchanged for now.
In 2020, Rex took delivery of its first B737 and used their new aircraft to go head-to-head with Qantas and Virgin Australia on routes between the major Australian cities like Melbourne and Sydney. The expansion was, however, not profitable and pushing the airline into financial difficulties.
Rex' fleet is made-up of nine B737-800s as well as 57 Saab 340s.
