Rex to expand B737-fleet
Rex has announced it plans to grow its fleet of B737-800s from six to ten aircraft before the end of the year. The airline has already signed lease-agreements for two of the four aircraft with an unspecified lessor.
The Australian airline took delivery of its first B737-800 in December and is since March operating them from Melbourne to Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide, and Canberra and from Sydney to Gold Coast. The additional aircraft will Rex to open up new routes which will be announced shortly.
Next to its six B737-800s, Rex also operates a fleet of 44 Saab 340s, making it the world's largest operator of the type. In total, the airline serves more than 60 destinations throughout all states in Australia.
