Saudi start-up Riyadh Air has unveiled its first of two liveries. The first aircraft painted is Boeing B787-9 N8572C (66877), and was revealed to the world at Charleston (SC) on 4 June 2023. This airframe was originally destined for MIAT -Mongolian Airlines and even had that livery painted.
The Dreamliner is the first of 39 B787-9s ordered by Riyadh Air. The airline will be the country's second national airline after Saudia and part of the kingdom's plan to become a global aviation hub, with both airlines carrying a total of 330 million passengers a year by 2030.
Next to the firm order for B787-9s, Riyadh Air also has options for 39 more B787s, and is also in the process of planning for more widebodies and up to 400 narrowbodies, of which a deal for 150 B737MAXs is said to be close.
