Rollout Dassault Falcon 6X
This evening, 8 December 2020 at 18:30 hrs LT, the first Dassault Falcon 6X prototype was rolled out of the factory at Bordeaux/Merignac.
The rollout could be followed via livestream on Youtube in what Dassault has dubbed the world’s first “e-rollout”. The livestream was hosted by American journalist Miles O’Brien.
The Falcon 6X was announced in February 2018 as the follow up to the Falcon 5X, which was cancelled in December 2017. The Falcon 5X was cancelled due to severe issues with the Snecma Silvercrest engine, which pushed back development for several years.
The new Falcon 6X will use Pratt & Whitney Canada PW800 series engines, which is also used by the Gulfstream G500 and G600. The Falcon 6X is externally similar to the Falcon 5X, although it is nearly half a meter longer. The flight deck of the 6X is the same as the 5X.
The first flight is expected early next year, with deliveries likely starting in 2022. The Falcon 6X will be competing with the Gulfstream G500/G600 and the Global 5500/6500. These aircraft feature a similar range (10,200 km) and capacity as the Falcon 6X (up to 16 passengers).
