Royal Jordanian takes delivery of 1st E2s
On 24 January 2024, Royal Jordanian took delivery of its first two Embraer E195-E2s. The aircrafts, JY-REA (19020116) and JY-REB (19020123) left Recife on this date to arrive at Amman a day later. They made a stop-over at Gran Canaria. The introduction of the E2 marks the beginning of the airline's fleet renewal and has prompted it to introduce an updated livery.
The E195-E2s are the first of eight E2s the airline will take delivery of. Four will be E190-E2s, the other four E195-E2s. Six of these will be leased via Azorra, while two E195-E2s have been purchased directly with the manufacturer.
Royal Jordanian plans to start commercial operations with the type in February. According to luchtvaartnieuws.nl, Amsterdam will be one of the first destinations it will fly the type to.
Next to the selection of the Embraers, Royal Jordanian is also planning to add up to twenty A320neo-family aircraft to renew its fleet with.
Currently, the airline's fleet is made-up of an Airbus A310-300F (parked), five A319s, nine A320s, two A321s, two ERJ175s, two ERJ195s, and seven Boeing B787-8s.
