Ryanair orders MAX10s

Ryanair has, on 9 May 2023, announced its largest order ever in its 39 years. In total, the airline decided to commit to 300 B737-10s, which are split between 150 firm orders and 150 options. The new aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2027 and 2033. Boeing and Ryanair have been in discussion about a MAX10-order for years but have now been able to finally reach an agreement. Because of the size and value of the order, it needs shareholder approval and a vote on it is scheduled for the airline's general shareholder's meeting on 14 September 2023.

The low-cost airline will outfit its new MAX10s with 228 seats. Today, its MAX8-200s are able to carry 197 passengers. Ryanair expects that half of the order will be used to replace older B737-800s, the other half is for the airline's ambitious expansion plans. This year, Ryanair is expecting to carry 168 million passengers, by 2034 it aims to carry 300 million passengers.

Ryanair's current fleet consists of one B737-700, 410 B737-800s, and 103 B737-8s, including the aircraft with subsidiaries Buzz, Malta Air and Ryanair UK. It also operates 29 Airbus A320s with subsidiary Lauda Air. In total, Ryanair still has open orders for 108 additional B737-8s with Boeing.
