Saudi Arabia plots new cargo airline
Bloomberg is reporting that the Saudi's Public Investment Fund is plotting to establish a new cargo airline. The plan is for the new airline to serve both state-owned carriers Riyadh Air and Saudia, which probably means it will replace Saudia's cargo arm.
According to the article, PIF is now in talks with both Airbus and Boeing to discuss a potential order for the A350F and/or B777-8F.
Currently, Saudia is operating a eight aircraft strong cargo-fleet, consisting of four B777Fs operated by the airline itself, and four B747-400Fs that are wet-leased from Air Atlanta Europe/Icelandic.
