Surinam Airways to lease an A340-300
On 31 January 2023, Surinam Airways announced it has signed a lease-agreement with V2 Aviation from Dubai for the lease of a single Airbus A340-300. The aircraft will, initially, be leased for eight months and both companies will work together on a longer lease-agreement.
Surinam media-outlet Waterkant is reporting that the Airbus involved is currently in Amman, Jordan, where it will receive pre-delivery maintenance. According to our information, there are currently three A340-300s at Amman, all from Airhub Airlines. These three are 9H-AHUB (835, at Amman since September 2022), 9H-HOP (938, at Amman since August 2022), and 9H-ZMK (668, at Amman since October 2022). One of these, 9H-AHUB, is no stranger to Surinam Airways as it has been wet-leased by them and used on the Paramaribo-Amsterdam route before.
Surinam Airways has experience with operating the Airbus A340 in-house. Between December 2009 and October 2019, the airline operated two different A340-300s.
