Ten new H135s for STAT MedEvac
As announced by Airbus, one of their long term US clients in air ambulance services, STAT MedEvac has ordered ten new H135 helicopters. These will replace a same number of older H135s currently in the fleet.
A customer of Airbus helicopters since almost 40 years, STAT MedEvac was the first to introduce the H135 in the USA, way back in 1997.
It was also the first company to implement the single-pilot IFR program with an EC135 in U.S. Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), the launch customer of the latest H135 variant in North America and the launch customer of the Helionix-equipped version in 2019.
It currently operates a mix of H135 and H145 family aircraft, dispatched over eighteen bases. These concentrate around the major hospitals in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
The latest sales confirm Airbus Helicopters’ status as the leading provider of helicopters to the air medical transport industry, providing some 55% of the 2,600 EMS helicopters flying in the world today and more than half of all new air medical helicopters sold in the last decade in the U.S.
