UAC rolls-out Il-96-400M
On 7 June 2023, the United Aircraft Corporation rolled-out its new Il-96-400M. Photographs on the manufacturer's Telegram-channel show the aircraft featuring a new livery. The aircraft is registered RA-96115 but the construction number is unknown to us at this moment. According to the post on Telegram, the aircraft will now be prepared at Voronezh for its first flight.
The Il-96-400M has been in development since February 2017 and is a further development of the Il-96-400. Compared to the Il-96-300, it has a 9.65 m longer fuselage and will be able to carry up to 402 passengers over a distance of a maximum of 8,750 km. It's the country's answer for aircraft like the Airbus A350 and Boeing B777.
Final assembly of the aircraft started in January 2020 and originally it first flight was planned for 2021. However, work was slowed-down due to a lack of interest in the aircraft and in April 2021, UAC announced the type won't be entering mass-production.
