United Airlines orders 270 aircraft
United Airlines has announced the purchase of 270 aircraft. The order, the largest in the history of the airline and worth 33 billion USD, consists of 200 B737MAXs and 70 A321neos.
The exact breakdown of the MAXs is 50 B737-8s and 150 B737-10s, which brings the total number of MAXs ordered by United to 420. The addition of the A321neos brings the commitment of United for the type to 120 as the airline already had orders for 50 A321neoXLRs.
The order will be used to replace older aircraft in United's narrowbody-fleet and means the airline will take delivery of 500 new aircraft in the coming years. According to the press release, United is set to take delivery of 40 new (narrowbody) aircraft in 2022, 138 in 2023 and 350 in 2024 and beyond.
