Virgin Australia to lease 10 additional B737-800s

To support the growth of domestic tourism, Virgin Australia has secured leases for ten additional B737-800s. The aircraft are expected to arrive before June. An interesting detail is that the ten were previously also part of the Virgin Australia-fleet but were returned to their lessors during their bankruptcy reorganisation. Next to securing these dry-leases, Virgin Australia is also finalising a wet-lease agreement with Alliance Airlines in which the company will operate Fokker 100s for Virgin Australia on two selected routes out of Brisbane.

Once delivered in June, the airline's will operate at 80% of it's pre-Corona domestic capacity. Its fleet currently consists of two B737-700s and 57 B737-800s. Subsidiary Virgin Australia Regional-fleet is made up of five A320s and eleven Fokker 100s.
