Monarch is working on a comeback, years after bankruptcy

Post by YS11 »

Airline Monarch Airlines is working on a comeback. The company went bust in 2017, but according to the chairman of the board of directors, the company is in the process of a restart.

Speaking to Airways magazine, CEO Daniel Ellingham talks about Monarch Airlines' ambitions. According to Ellingham, Monarch is in the process of purchasing 15 aircraft. The holiday airline, which was on the verge of switching to the Boeing 2017 MAX before the bankruptcy in 737, is opting for aircraft from the A320 family, according to Ellingham. At the time, the airline flew A320s, A321s and 737s.

The airline unexpectedly went bankrupt in 2017 after the company failed to meet the financial requirements to maintain its flight permit. According to Ellingham, the company has now received investments from companies in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

When Monarch will take to the skies again is not yet known. The airline has not yet sent an AOC (Air Operator Certificate) application. According to the CEO, however, that is a matter of a few weeks. On social media, the company is active again under the name Let's Monarch.
