A Garuda Indonesia aircraft failed to take off, instead skidding off the runway at Sentani Airport in Jayapura on Wednesday morning.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

“The plane overshot the runway and the captain decided to abort the takeoff,” said Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang S. Ervan as quoted by kompas.com.

Garuda’s spokesman, Ikhsan Rosan, said no damage had been found on the aircraft so far, and Garuda had evacuated all passengers from the plane. (iwa)
