Boeing installs first Greenpoint Technologies "Aeroloft" sleeping area
Boeing delivered the first BBJ 747-8 to sport a new optional extra – an eight-person sleeping area, called the Aeroloft.
The additional space, located above the main cabin, behind the upper deck, provides an extra 36.5 square meters of additional space. That brings the total cabin space to 481.2 square meters.
The Aeroloft has eight private beds and a changing area for crew.
Boeing is still sticking to this aircraft is going to an, “undisclosed customer,” but it has been well established that this plane will go to the government of Qatar.
The aircraft was flown by BBJ president Steve Taylor and BBJ chief pilot Rene Gonzales to Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, Germany, for completion of its VIP interior. The aircraft is scheduled to enter service in 2014.
