(SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.)—
One person is dead after a plane crash south of Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport.
Officials tell us the plane crashed near 47th Street south between Tyler & Maize Road around 7:45 this morning.
Sedgwick County Sheriff's officials say the small FedEx plane was experiencing mechanical trouble and was in communication with the airport. The pilot was planning to turn around and return to the airport before the plane crashed.
The pilot, whose identity has not been released, was killed in the crash. The pilot was the only one on board the Cessna Caravan.
