Luxembourg Defence Open Air Days 1-2 October 2022

Post by Nato Tiger »

On the weekend of 1 and 2 October 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Directorate of Defense invites all those interested to discover the Luxembourg air component during the Luxembourg Defense Open Air Days, at Luxembourg-Findel airport. Over the past few years, Luxembourg Defense has substantially developed its capabilities in the fields of air transport and aerial surveillance. Today, Luxembourg has, through national and multinational programs, several aircraft intended to carry out missions in these fields. With the support of the Luxembourg army as well as national and international partners, the Directorate of Defense will exhibit these aircraft to the general public

In the program (Static)

Airbus A400M – transport aircraft part of the Belgian-Luxembourg binational fleet
Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT)
Beechcraft BE350 ISR – maritime reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft
Airbus H145M – multi-role light helicopter of the Luxembourg army
Insitu Integrator – SRTUAS (Short Range Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems) drone of the Luxembourg army

The Airbus A400M will be open to the public and can be inspected from the inside. Demonstrations of surveillance cameras from the Airbus H145M helicopter and the Beechcraft BE350 ISR are also planned.

Experts and soldiers, operating these various aircraft, will be on hand to answer technical or practical questions from the public.

As expected a very small event. Present in the pouring rain were:

LX-FAB H.145M no mks, c/n 20294
CT01 A.400M 15 W, c/n 104
T-057 A.330MRTT MMU
G-RTNA Be.350 DEA

The other H.145 (LX-FAA) was inside the Luxembourg Air Ambulance hangar at the other side of the airport and not available for viewing unfortunately. The Beech is the contribution of Luxembourg to operation IRINI, the EU mission controlling the weapons embargo against Libya.
