Fritzlar AB 17 August

Post by GIPS »

Hi All,

Today I had contact with Fritzlar and they confirmed an OPEN HOUSE on sunday the 17th of Augustus. There will be a small flying dispay.
Most german helicopter types are expected. And some foreign helicopters are expected like a swiss AS332, Czech Mi-17 and Mi-24 and Belgium A-109BA

Hope this helps? And see you there..

Anyone been to an open house at Fritzlar before?
I would like to know how the static is normally situated, can you walk around the helo's or is it possible to make some clean shots.
Same goes for the flying display, is it possible to make some decent shots of the flying helo's, because when you look at the map on their website you will face the sun almost all day.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hello,
I had contact with Fritzlar and the display in the morning will be the same as in the afternoon!
Probably it's better outside the base, like in Buckeburg in 2006

Just received an email from the organisation that a participantslist for the open day is not availlable before the end of this week. They are awaiting some confirmations.

No I haven't. (Last showreport on Scramble is from 1974, with Alouette 2's). But when you look at Google Earth/Live Virtual Earth you can tell the runway is running NW-SE direction and 3 large hangars and the platforms are on the northside of the field. I suspect the opendoor to be on this part of the base. So you can imagine the sun in shining right into your camera (if there is any...), because it comes up in the east, runs over in south direction to the west where it goes under.... But I expect you did know that...
So for the flying display I would personaly go outside the base, I would want to take good photo's.
Kind Regards / Groeten,

I also went to the open day at Fritzlar today.

Only one small adition to the static aircraft:

D-HOPP Bell 206A Intro

Someone told us the helicopters flew the display out of a military terrain near the village of Geismar.

Wow, you guys are fast in posting a report

2 corrections from my side (from my photos):

72+67 wore a THR-30 badge
84+42 wore a MTHR-25 badge

By the way, on 13AUG08 98+11 (74+11) had arrived in Fritzlar as the first Tiger for KHR-36. I did not see a unit-badge on it yet.

Regards,
Gerard
