Accident: Flugfelag DH8A at Nuuk on Mar 4th 2011, runway excursion on landing

A Flugfelag Air Iceland de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration TF-JMB performing flight NY-223 from Reykjavik (Iceland) to Nuuk (Greenland) with 31 passengers and 3 crew, veered right off Nuuk's runway 23 and struck a rocky embankment while landing at Nuuk in difficult gusting wind conditions around 13:00L (16:00Z). No injuries occurred, the aircraft received substantial damage to its nose, propellers and engines, the right hand main gear collapsed.

The aircraft was originally scheduled to fly to Nuuk on Thursday (Mar 3rd), the flight had been postponed to the next day due to weather however. Early Mar 4th the airplane diverted to Kulusuk (Greenland) due to weather before weather conditions improved sufficiently for the airline to decide to attempt landing in Nuuk.

Nuuk's runway 05/23 is 950 meters/3120 feet long.

Narrative:
A DHC-8 passenger plane, registered TF-JMB, sustained substantial damage in a landing accident at Godthåb/Nuuk Airport (GOH), Greenland.

All 31 passengers and three crew members survived. The airplane operated on a flight from Reykjavík Domestic Airport (RKV), Iceland to Godthåb/Nuuk Airport (GOH), Greenland with an enroute stop at Kulusuk.

The flight landed on runway 23 in high winds. The right hand main gear collapsed when the aircraft was on the runway. The aircraft went off the right side of the runway after the right wing hit the runway. The nose landing gear broke of when the aircraft struck a rocky embankment.
