Trans Air Congo Antonov crash March 21, 2011

According to French press agency AFP, an Antonov freighter belonging to Trans Air Congo has crashed in the town of Pointe Noire(Congo-Brazzaville) today during landing. Initial reports mention 14 casualties.

Crash: Trans Air Congo AN12 at Pointe-Noire on Mar 21st 2011, impacted houses on landing

A Trans Air Congo Antonov AN-12, registration TN-AGK performing freight flight from Brazzaville to Pointe Noire (Congo) with 4 crew,
impacted buildings in the residential area of Mvoumvou (northeast of and immediately adjacent to the city center of Pointe Noire) while on approach to Pointe Noire's runway 17 after having been cleared to land by the control tower.

The airplane burst into flames, all on board perished, 17 bodies and 15 injured have been recovered from the crash site.

Congo's National Agency of Civil Aviation reported the airplane had been cleared to land.

Russia's Embassy in Congo reported all 4 Russian crew on board of the AN-12 were killed in the crash.

The Embassy added, that the crew attempted an emergency landing on the sea but could not reach the sea anymore and came down in a densely populated neighbourhood of Pointe Noire.

Local Police reported 14 bodies have been recovered from the crash site so far. Later medical services reported 17 bodies and 15 injured have been recovered so far.

According to a list by ICAO released on Jul 1st 2006 TN-AGK was no longer airworthy.

No Metars are available,the local weather station reported thunderstorms in the morning that cleared up by 07:00L, subsequently unrestricted visibility, reducing humidity at 30-31 degrees C and QNH dropping from 1011 to 1007 hPa, steady winds from east to southwest between 4 and 12 knots.

I am not a tecnical genious, but when you scroll down to the last picture in the link you see an engine. I don't think that is from a prop plane. Or am I wrong?

Engine on photo could be part of the cargo inside the plane.

Antonov 12 uses turbo-prop engine. What you see is the exhaust of one of her engines.

Looing at the video, you can clearly see the Nos. 1 and 2 engines providing thrust (evidenced by the standard Antonov smoke trail behind them), but it looks like the 3 and 4 engines are both shutdown, as I couldn't see the propellers rotating.

So possible double engine failure, and during the approach the airspeed dropped below that needed for the rudder to counter the yaw moment, which would result in the aircraft yawing and rolling into the failed engines (which would seem to match what the video shows)

Number 4 prop is rotating, I think.
Answers will be questioned.....

Probably windmilling. It looks like only 1 & 2 were producing any thrust.
