Passenger plane with 127 on board crashes near Chaklala airb

RAWALPINDI: A Bhoja Airline flight # B4213 has reportedly crashed near Chaklala airbase, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the a Boeing 737 with 127 passengers on board, which flew from Karachi was suppose to land in Islamabad at 6:40PM, but crashed just before touchdown.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed the reports of crash.

Rescue teams have rushed to the crash site.

More details are yet awaited.

A Bhoja Air Boeing 737-200, registration AP-BKD performing flight B4-213 from Karachi to Islamabad (Pakistan) with 118 passengers and 9 crew,
impacted terrain about 10km short of the runway of Islamabad south of the aerodrome near Jinnah Gardens and burst into flames.

Apparently this was the first Bhoja Air flight in a long time, after being grounded for safety issues. A CNN report mentioned a micro-burst as a possible cause for this crash. Weather was bad at the time of the crash.
