Schiphol claims to operate Heathrow's third runway

Funny story:

Amsterdam is laying claim to be recognised as a British hub airport operating Heathrow's third runway.

It is launching an aggressive advertising campaign capitalising on what critics say is a shortage of runways in London and the South East.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has been promoting itself in the London market for many many years. In the late 1970's before the UK-NL deregulation and the growth of LCC airlines, AMS airport already advertised in London tube stations and on black London taxi's as LONDON's 3rd Airport. This was long before Luton, Stansted or Southend airports were of any significance in the London air travel market.
