The center of gravity is behind the wing engines, around the center main landing gears and the tail engine does kick in extra loads on the rear ... if you mistake this and shoot something heavy to the rear inside you end up like thismichel N wrote:This happened before to the MD-11/DC-10 family. Err, not trying to be pedantic, but aren't all CoG's behind the wing engines? AFAIK an MD-11 isn't more prone to tailstrikes than a B747 (which you would expect if the aircraft was more tail heavy than a B747), and the CoG movement while loading is roughly the same.
