Like every year, Greece commemorated the anniversary of the 1821 War of Independence against 400 years of Ottoman rule with the annual military parade in the center of the capital. On 25 March 2023, the Greek air-armed military services performed the fly-pass over Athens. This year, the foreign air-arm participant was absent, unfortunately. The atmospheric conditions were not great, leaving the participating F-4E/AUP Phantoms unread. The best viewpoint for the parade is Mount Lycabettus, overlooking the Parthenon.
Stars of the show were the four Viper-upgraded F-16s and the brand new Rafales, obviously. The Hellenic Army was keen to show that more and more former US Army OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopters operational. This year no less than eight took part in the fly-pass, whereas last year there were only four.
