From 25 to 29 April the second edition of the Mexican Aerospace |
Fair (or FAMEX, to use its Mexican abbreviation), was |
held at Military Airbase No. 1 of Santa Lucia. The fair aims |
to boost the country’s aerospace industry and provide the |
ideal scenario for commercial and technological exchange |
between representatives of civil and military aviation, educational |
institutions, defense market and public and private |
sectors. This year, 35 countries participated, including the |
United States, France, the United Kingdom and Canada. It |
was also the first time that Russian company Rosoboronexport |
participated. In this second edition there were plenty of |
other activities such as the Foreign Investment Seminar, the |
Second Forum of Aerospace Education, the Second Cycle of |
Technical Conferences, business meetings, and of course the |
static exhibition of military aircraft and civilians. |
During those four days of activities, there were more than |
45,000 attendees from the aeronautical sector, 505 aerospace |
companies were present (compared to 240 in 2015) and the |
attendance of the student scientific community. The latter’s |
attendance increased from 23 in 2015 to 48 this year. |
The final day saw 220,000 attendees gazing at the ground and |
flying displays. |
This year’s star was the huge A400 of the Spanish Air Force, |
which made the FAM Hercules parked next to it look very |
small. Sadly the A400 did not participate in the flying display. |
