Mexican independence is celebrated as a national holiday on 16 September, usually with a huge military parade in Mexico City and smaller events in other cities.

This year, the 209th year of independence was the main theme of the parade. However, austerity measures by the new Mexican government meant the event was a bit smaller than in the past years. Still, an impressive 72 aircraft and helicopters participated in the event, all of which operated from BAM 1 Santa Lucia, just north of Mexico City.

We have compiled a report from pictures, with few serials are missing, but the report gives a good impression of what could be seen on this cheerful day over Mexico City. FAM = Mexican Ar Force, ARM = Mexican Navy.
