Seoul Airshow/ADEX 2011

One of our editors was able to travel, for a few days, all the way to South Korea with the sole purpose of attending the first two days of the Seoul International Aerospace & Defence Exibition (ADEX) 2011. The ADEX was advertised having opening day on 18 October, business days 19 through 21 October, and public days the weekend of 22 and 23 October. The location of the event was listed as Seoul Airport, better known to us as Seoul Airbase or Seongnam Airbase, K-16 and ICAO identifier RKSM southeast of central Seoul, South Korea. The event was organized by the Korea Aerospace Industries Association, Defence Industry and supported by the Ministry of National Defense, ROK Army, Air Force and Navy amongst others. The general layout of the airbase, with two northsouth oriented runways, with the static show on the easterly part facing the nearby active runway, provided plenty photo opportunities of the action. The afternoon sun after about 14:00 hours caused some backlight challenges though. The following report is based on sightings from 17, 18 and 22 October.

The Black Eagles T-50B, arrived and perfomed the display twice on 18 October. 10-055/8 had disapeared by 22 October and was replaced by 10-057/-. On the far northwest side at least 21 UH-60s of the resident 2-2th AVN were noted. Numbers to follow. TheKAI Surion 003 was towed back and front to the static show hence the reason it is mentioned twice.
