Hukou Army Base (Taiwan)

On Sunday 24 September 2023 there was an open house at the army base in Hukou. Unfortunately I had other plans for that day, but I had the opportunity to visit the rehearsals on 21 September. The open house started with the display of an enormous Taiwan flag by army forces. Further performances included a drum display and a dance display by local groups, a display by the military Indian motorcycle group and a martial arts display by the Army Special Forces.

The flying display started with a fly-by of Mirages from neighboring Hsinchu, followed by a formation of helicopters and a display of two AH-64E Apache Guardians. Especially for this open house AH-64Es 811 and 824 had gotten a special paint scheme. The final display was the occupation of a village by red forces and the liberation of this village by Taiwanese forces with the help of armored vehicles and helicopters.
