Spottersday Friday the 13th

We are planning to spend several days at Araxos during the exercise. Any idea what the spotting situation is like? Any trouble with security, police or neighbors? Heard some stories about arrested spotters around two years ago. Any hint is appreciated as I prefer to stay in my hotel instead of a cosy greek prison….

Normally, spotting at or around ANY Greek airbase is a definite “no-no”, and Araxos is known to be one of the tightest, security-wise. It MIGHT be a bit more relaxed during NTM, but it MIGHT also be even tighter. I would not take the risk, except when there’s an organised spotters day or an airshow. But even then, it is wise to stick to the rules.

There will be a spotters day on Friday May 13th nd an Airshow on Sunday May 15th

From the site newsroom:

"Dear Tiger fans,

We are happy to announce that on Friday May 13th, 2022 the Aegean Tigers of 335 Mira plan to host a spotters day during the NATO Tiger Meet 2022 exercise.

More information on how to register for the event will be announced on a later date."

Of course off base photography should be tried at a safe distance where no base facilities are visible

Anyone with any more info on this, or when they are likely to open it up for application. Or worse, any chance of this being cancelled because of other commitments?
