Danish Defense Boost!

Post by Herby »

Denmark will get an ASW aircraft after 2031 with the P-8A Poseidon and some three to four aircraft (after calculating it after the amount of money reserved for them) will presumably be purchased. Additionally some 10 F-35A will also be purchased.

The Fennec helicopters should be replaced by a newer model and also some additional (or a newer replacement ?) MH-60R Sea Hawks are on the shopping list.

Confirmed were 10 additional F-35A and 4 P-8A, the latter well purchased from 2030. Time will tell if the Poseidon production line is then still open!

Would not be a big problem to bridge the next 6 years of production with 16 Canadian and 8 German P-8s in the backlog, plus any other potential FMS.

AFAIK the Canadians haven't ordered the P-8 yet. They are still making up their mind and are also considering an option from Bombardier with a few others.

Well, only two days after your comment, this came to light:
https://www.defensenews.com/air/2023/11 ... lion-deal/

It is not a firm order, yet,.. :|
The Canadian military will start receiving in 2026 Boeing-made P-8A Poseidons it is buying through a deal worth $5.9 billion.

Canadian cabinet ministers, including Defence Minister Bill Blair, made the official announcement Thursday, but defense observers had long expected it after Canada earlier this year requested from the U.S. pricing on the P-8.

Canada will initially acquire 14 of the planes with the option to buy two additional P-8s at a later date.

Blair said the aircraft should be all delivered by the fall of 2027 and the fleet fully operational by 2033.
...the Danes had better still not wait too long now, though...
