ARMY:
Exercise DEFENDER. Primarily supports three combat credible forces focused exercises: Swift Response, Immediate Response and Saber Strike.
DEFENDER demonstrates the U.S. Army’s capability to rapidly aggregate combat power in Europe from CONUS and with assigned forces in order
to reinforce the NATO Alliance. U.S. and European based forces employed include; ground and airborne Immediate Response Forces (IRF),
rotational and assigned forces with associated strategic air and sea lift, intra-theater ground lines of communication, and Army Prepositioned Stocks.
Funds the transportation, strategic airlift and training costs of U.S based forces to include two Division Headquarters, one Expeditionary
Sustainment Command Headquarters, and three other brigade combat teams in accordance with exercise requirements.
