Schleswig-Jagel (ETNS) 2024

Post by Herby »

Happy New Year and some infos from here, as in six months only another large event will happen at Jagel.
For the NATO Tiger Meet in June two Spotterdays are planned. The supporting transport aircrafts will mainly land at Hohn.

In addition to this 2024 the 30th anniversary of AG 51 respectively TLwG 51 „Immelmann“ as an Tornado unit will also celebrated. At least one more special painted Tornado will unveiled in summer.

After several weeks of maintenance „Air Defender“ mount Tornado 44+69 was noted just before Christmas still in it’s special paint.

Due to the quite intense winter weather in December 2023 several flight hours did not materialize and flying will start on January 3rd.

Some Infos regarding NTM 2024:

Czech AF with Gripen ist already confirmed and also 335.Mira and 192.Filo will take part.

Due to different reasons (security issues etc.) no F-35 units will take part, so no 313.Sqn.

21.Gruppo AMI and French Rafale (presumably 11F) will take part and also 4F with E-2C.

Some 60+ aircrafts are awaited.

Obviously the days before and after the weekend for the NTM spotterdays is not the best choice: Due to massive „Work in progress“ on the Autobahn A7 the Elbtunnel (Elbe Tunnel) will be closed completely from late-June 7th to early-June 10th so everyone should please plan some additional 1-2 hours for the ride from Lower-Saxony passing Hamburg to the North.

If it will be the same times as this upcoming month, it may work out ok'ish pending your arrival/departure date. It will be worth monitoring the ADAC.

Active in the morning of 08.03. were the following TLwG 51 Tornado IDS and ECR:

43+25, 44+21, 44+58 (still on loan with it´s TLwG 33 badge), 44+69 ("Air Defender 2023" special painted fin), 45+14, 45+77 and 46+36.

Towed from the compass ramp to the northwest HAS area was 43+59.

Obviously ECR 46+38 (at maintenance at Manching at the moment) will reappear in the next months most likely still in it´s 2023 NTM colours. At Manching nobody is willing to repaint it and so Jagel has to do this work. The new planned special painted Tornado for NTM 2024 will have mainly black as it´s colour.

This should be the updated and confirmed NTM 2024 list:

5 Rafale EC 03.030
5 Rafale 11F
4 NH90, Gazelle, Tiger 3.RHC, EHRA 3

(France was announced with 20 aircrafts, but ECE 01.030 wasn’t named, but should be logical with this amount)

8 Eurofighter TLwG 74

4 Gripen 211.TL

6 F-16C 6.elt

4 F-2000 36. Stormo, 21. Gruppo (only two in the second week)

4 F/A-18C 11.Staffel

4 F-16C 335. Mira

3 F-16C 192.Filo

4 F-35A 313.Sqn. (flying from Volkel)

The based TLwG 51 will take part with up to 8 Tornados.

The participants will fly two missions a day, one after 9.00h local until noon, the second from 14.00h until late afternoon, so perhaps another north west approach photographing on runway 05 could be possible.

The first Friday is a full flying day, the second Friday the departure day. On the second Thursday they will fly in the morning only.
