Concerns D-Brief project 'Replacement of tactical air transport capacity'
Defense intends to
to purchase nine C-390M aircraft together with Austria;
five for the Netherlands and four for Austria.
Staff
There are three aircraft crews per aircraft to support this need
aircraft required, consisting of a captain, a co-pilot and two loadmasters.
defence
must have a total of 15 crews to ensure continuous and efficient deployment of the aircraft
to guarantee.
Industrial participation
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate has made agreements about Industrial
Participation around this project.
Embraer involves various Dutch companies and knowledge institutions
in their supply chains or carries out development projects with them.
Efficiency: by purchasing the C-390M aircraft jointly with Austria
To achieve this, manufacturer Embraer achieves economies of scale in production.
This translates into
a lower price of the devices for both the Netherlands and Austria
In the extreme case, Defense will extend the current operation of the C130 aircraft until 2028.
Schedule
In the B letter I informed your House that the first devices will be replaced from 2026.
This one
timeline proved to be unfeasible due to cooperation with Austria
and negotiations with the
producer.
Embraer is expected to deliver the first device at the end of 2027.
This will follow until the end of 2029
the remaining four devices step by step.
Defense expects to have the
simulators for training in the second half of 2026.
The new unit at Eindhoven air base
will be initially ready for deployment in 2028 (Initial Operational Capability, IOC) with three aircraft.
The unit reaches Full Operational Capability (FOC) status with five
aircraft in 2030.
