Vliegwaardig krijgen is 1 ding; denk zelf dat ze meer geld nodig hebben voor de parkeer-rekening, die inmiddels al in de tonnen loopt...:wink:

the engine cowlings were removed from hangar 73 a couple of weeks ago....

Thanks to info from Schiphol Marketing & Account all fee's has been paid.
So there is enough cashflow to have this bird back in the air.

Gents visited the grand old lady today as engineers were working..
Had a chat with the chief engineer.. Former BWIA staff from Trinidad (ya man.......) are now preparing the aircraft for a ferry flight to either Abu Dhabi or Victorville where the aircraft will receive a C-check and repaint into Luzair c/s. Aircraft will enter service for the hadjseason and will be Pakistan based and ops by Luzair..
Tomorrow 3 new engines will arrive... Aircraft will receive post storage check , new engines , new landing gear..If all works well TMR will be in the air within 4 weeks....

If they need 4 weeks of work before ferry to the C-Check they are late for the outbound Hajj. This years Hajj operation is difficult as it fall together with the Christmas high season in "the west ".

Outbound Hajj starts the first week of December.

Gee wizzz

First they let him shoot some roots(pfff wortel schieten) for years and then they fix him within weeks,are they jumping for this aircraft ?
Or did Luzzair got rid of another plane so they need this one desperetly?:roll:
Or is it just the fact that they had to earn the money first?
To make it worty to fly will cost lots of money after all this time,I think :shock: ....

Can any technician explain what the inpact of the climate here has on the structure and possible other things of this aircraft?

Well hello, my first post here. I'm a technician working for KLM. No i have no Tristar on my record, but the effect is the same as any other long parked aircraft.

When you do not preform the parking program every week... this will happen:

The whole aicraft needs to be lubricated.... cables, gears, flightcontrols, doors, flaps etc.
The pack's will fail to work usually. The fume in the aicraft is dead, not really but it will smell like dead meat! All the ducts and there couplings and seals are dry, and need to be replaced. The battery of the APU and Aircraft it self will be dead. (like the European, we where not able to get it started only some firework)
All the fluids need to be drained and filled up with new. All the filters need to be replaced, at the engines, hydraulic system, pneumatic, aircosystem.
Then there will be a lot of faults in the avionics because of the dead battery's. All navigation software is out of date. Then there are the door and windowseals that need to be checked, they are so dry and not serviced with some lubricant. There will be a lot of corrosion.
In the fuel tanks, there will be a lot of Funges... so the tanks need to be cleaned with a special liqued, then fly for a while and get it all out, all the fuel filters need to be replaced and samples are needed to check of all the funges is gone. And when the aircraft was parked outside, fuel leaks appeared so a tank entry is needed to fix those leaks.

And i can continue with all the problems there will be....

So 4weeks is verry short.... in my opinion....

Interesting info on a parked aircraft. Can you also explain what a weekly parking program does? What is done to an aircraft on a weekly basis?

Indeed, as you say, 4 weeks seems to bery short as the whole interior need to be replaced as well.

If it is planned to go to Victorville or Abu Dhabi I suspect that they are just doing the minimum at Schiphol to facilitate a single flight, and the job will then be completed at its next destination. On that basis 4 weeks may be reasonable.

A weekly paring program consists:

Preform a weekly and daily check.

All lights check, and let them work for a while.

Preform the most importent test in the cockpit, like fire/overheat warning, some TCAS test etc.

APU operation for at least 1hour.

All pack (3total) work together, and then operate 1 at a time.

Then there must be a engine test run preformed. first ground idle, then flight idle. Depending on the engine type and operators rules, sometimes a high power testrun.

This is what i know and is in my head, i will look up at my work what a parking program exactly is. So next week you will know more!

They must be in a good condition, the IVWdL has grounded them after the double engine faillure. And they have to proof that the aircraft is in better condition then they did before the grounded them.

There is a possibility for a one time release, but that is not so easy to get. At KLM Martinair, Transavia the IVWdL is not easy so on this airliner they will be verry critical...

Drove by the site by bus yesterday and saw heavy activity around this bird... seems at least 4 men are working on it, as I've been told this morning. By the way; with the hadj coming up it would logically go to Abu Dhabi, rather than Victorville... saves them a double Atlantic crossing, according a colleague of mine...:wink:
