Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Go&*!@&#&7damn !! Bos
That Tornado head on shot, taking off from runway 28 is absolutely brilliant. Why dont I have that one ? Oh yeah, mainly because I only have a 300mm 2.8 + 1.4 extender while Mr Show-It-Off next to was poking this 500 4.0 + 1.4 ext in my eye. Next time you will bring it along I will carry it for you, indefentely, holding it very tight myself. Too heavy for your sissy arms anyway..
*&*&ing Jealous
For Roel. The positions:
Landing shot: Postion 9, on the bunker of the Rwy 23 approach
- Take off shots on wednesday (12sqn and RSAF Tonka with sunlight), position 3, walkin to the fence
- Take off shots thursday, position 5. End of runway 28. Some RAF Tornados were taking off from 28, others + Saudis were using the longer runway 23 and as you can see, you can take side on shots from here. You need some lenses though. If the sun is out, you will have backlight conditions in the morning, but that was a bit different in our case.
About being a busy airfield. Well, that was a bit of a disappointment. Not many RAF tornados flyging taking into account that there are four squadrons based here. In fact only two squadrons were operational. The other two were away or did just come back from deployment
Go get them !

Your right that head on shot is brilliant! Why don’t you have it? A political answer would be “bad luck” but reality says “your thing is to small” and please do not blame me for being at the right spot at the right time… And who is the sissy, one drop of rain and who wanted to go to a B&B?
But we (again) had a great time together!
Take care and I see you soon,
Marcel

Hi Roel,
Sorry to hear that! Certainly not fun to have that disease which also limits you to go whereever you want and do the jobs you like. That is bad news and i am sorry to hear that. Hopefully the our images and stories can cheer you up a bit.
About the description of spots: I mixed up. I thought the question came from Roel Reijne but when reading back I saw that Hans Rolink asked where the pictures were taken. Hope the info is useful.
Thanks !
