Does anyone know if the chair-lift will be open also Tuesday the 9th of October?
Last year was closed, but this year is not stated that it will be closed...
Thank you!

The chair-lift was open every year.. :wink: But only from 0800-1400h and from 1600-1800h.

This year, you can expect no foreign aircrafts but Pc-21 Display
and Air-to Air Shooting with F-5/F-18.

Hello gentlemen, please allow me to jump in the conversation!

First timer here, have quite a few questions regarding the event.

How is the public transportation from Meiringen to the Axalp village? What is a good time to arrive at the village to start the walk up the mountains in order to watch the morning trainings of oct 8th and 9th? (and for the mornings of 10th and 11th too!) If the chairlift opens only at 0800 I believe it is a better idea to walk all the way up?
Any food avaliable on the top on practice days? Any activity on LSMM on saturday 6th and sunday 7th?

Anything a newbie should know?

Thanks for all the info posted so far!

@dolfo

There is no way to use public transport from Meiringen. The shuttle-buses onyl drives from Brienz. If you want to see the whole training, you must go on 0600h ex valley station.

Meiringen is, like every swiss airbases closed during weekend.

Thank you all for the quick responses!

So, I basically screwed up already by booking on Meiringen? What are the transportation options from Meiringen to Brienz, if any? Taxis too expensive all the way to Axalp? And when you say 0600ex valley station I understand 0600 at a station in Brienz to get the shuttle? Or arrive at 0600 in Axalp? Sorry, non-native english speaker here... and not familiar with Switzerland too=/

Thanks again!

@dolfo

I recommend the homepage of SBB http://www.sbb.ch/. You can see there the connections between Meiringen and Brienz. The taxis are rather expensive in Switzerland (about 2-3 CHF per kilometers).

You should be at 6 o'clock on valley station at Axalp Dorf. It's not possible, to see the whole training, if you use public transportation because the earliest bus goes at 0735h from Brienz.

and being late could be very dangerous. it`s not funny climbing up to "tschingel" and the 23mm rounds are close to you. and at least, even when someone fall `cause of the "happyness-to-see", there is the risk future shows we be cancelled!

Noted, thank you!

We don't want to compromise the future editions of the show, so I better be early and save us all the troubles!

For those who have google earth.....
http://www.erikklaassen.nl/axalp.rar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Walking form the axalp village to the top is about 4km and takes 2-3hr.
There is a parking spot after the axalp village but you can only go there if you go the night before. All traffic in the morning cannot go further then the village.
Between the parking spot and spot 3 the climb is like hell, like walking the stairs for 2 hours.... Take some dry clothes with you because you loose some sweat... :D And thats only going up..... going down on the steep slopes isnt a pressure at all.... :wink:
