Hans,
Please how long is it ago you heard a fighter  ... these 3 meter high walls are really not helping to protect the noise of an F-15 taking off.. it protected viewing mainly..

MinDef indeed accepted the spotters on this public place. Rumours about a closure were already there for some time, but when the so called spotters were throwing stones to the airbase fire brigade (when spotters? made a fire there in the waste bin and around) and some other stones were thrown on the base ending up in the engines, it speeded up the whole process of putting the wall there (main reason even) and putting a fence around the place and added the ground to the airbase.

In anyway, the majority of the real spotters didn't want this wall, behaved well and enjoyed spotting, but the small minority (as usual) made this place closed...unfortunatly..

You know how to make an day at the fence a good day!
It seems to be a little cold there...so you need a lot of beer to be hot from the inside.

Wow I've missed some great times! Yet again another moment that I am convinced I was born too late. That spot looks more than perfect and I wish there were as many enthousiasts around my age now as there were then! Just the thought of having a beer with friends about my age watching F4's, F15's, Starfighters and what not flying in and out of the base! Really a shame that this spot was 'closed', where was it located?

And we had a big laugh  here at LWD, looking at the 2nd pic [the rubish] this were possibly the same @ssholes who were responsible of the death of the 2 cows at the 06 side at Leeuwarden.
2 Cows died with a lot of plastic bags in their stoumic........forcing the farmer to close his fields for spotters.
Those "gents" still think milk comes from a factory I suppose

The one sitting on the left, with the reddish brown trousers, maybe?

You see Andries, you can run, but you cannot hide :!:

Couldn't resist adding a shot from my own archive, because:
- more Jan van Waarde,
- more Heijmen Brothers,
and more
two fingers

...plus the De Haan Brothers! I've never seen the guy in the black coat since, he was a friend of Hans de Haan.

Josti Band Topic?? This is fun !! They had a really good group at Soesterberg at the time. Just like our group in Twenthe / Hopsten. Those were the days. I think you're just jealous because you weren't part of such a group. And remember that a lot of those guys are still around and became respectable photographers/spotters. We were the founding fathers of the way spotting is conducted nowadays so to speak.
