Ha haaaaa, Roel,

that pic with the police-hats looks very familiar.............
Picture was taken by Roel van Maarseveen near RAF Abingdon, if I remember well.

Indeed a policeman offered us to stay at his house. He was not even there by the way, on night shift. Even the police knows that Soesterberg-spotters are very trustworthy persons!

Keep the pictures coming please!

It's fun to see those pics from the eighties! But are there also group pictures from the nineties? ('cos the ones we've seen so far could just as well be added to the "dinosaurs" topic :gnome: )

A message for Remco

Post by alpha kilo 61 »

EHAM wrote:Very, very funny, those pictures. I wonder who are still active as a spotter or work in the aviation business or have already children with the same hobby (I do). And I miss a lot of Soesterberg spotters, like Robert Hoeting (nowadays a pilot with Air Dolomiti), René (don't know his last name, a bit long hair, he travelled by bus, he only wrote numbers and had a half binoculars), 3 brothers Duurland (at least one of them studied in Delft), Johan van de Bunt and his older brother (I saw Johan at one of the pictures), and so on. I also remember the J-79 magazine.

Greetings from Remco 'de rechter' de Wit, who is still active as a spotter now and then and who has a very active son: Joost de Wit, webmaster of http://www.aviaspotters.nl
Hi,
Remco I am still active and even my brother Emiel

Thanks for posting these for me Roel!

The first one is taken at Metz on 22JUN1986 (photographer unknown).

A lot of us will remember "Akie the Discopilot"....... this guy claimed to be a pilot with the 32TFS. He was a singer and I even still have one of his records at home (a drawing of him in a pilot-suit with a CR-Eagle in the background, on the record-cover).

Yeah right..... the same single has been sold by a lot of people putting their own sleeve around it and claiming they were singers :-D

Hans

Disco really made it. It's empty and I hate it.
