The 2008 show will be a special one. This is due to that the HuAF is going to celebrate its 70th birthday (that's why we don't have the next show in '09 - as it should be). This year me and my friends had doubts too about the appearance of the Chinese guys here (especially that they invited the J-10 as well which hardly (officialy :) entered service. I'm not too optimistic regarding the next year's Chinese participants neither.

Btw. I guess next year will be not only a birthday party, but also bidding farewell to a few faboulus a/c types as well They didn't already invite the Phantom IIs from Germany, nor the Tornados from the RAF. Also the F-117 is also being retired and the good old Hungarian Fulcrums are to be retired by '09 so this would be there last or almost last public appearance :(:(:(
Anyway I would be happy to see a specially-painted Fulcrum at the event as it was in the '98 bday party and in '99. It would be great to see a "BigMac" (C-17) as well from the US folks [as 3-4 NATO Globies are to be based at Pápa AFB starting in late '08].

I was there this year, and really enjoyed the show.
The airshow was excellent, although at some points a bit dangerous and even scary, when Szoltan Veres came straight at the crowd at very low level.
But then again, that's one of the things that make this show interesting, you won't see that on any Western airshow
I have already noted the dates in my agenda, and maybe visit Hungary again this year.
Now let's wait and see which of the invited aircraft will show up.
(hoping against all odds there will be an Su-30MKM )

Hey, I didn't say I didn't like his show
Too bad they aren't allowed to do that here, although I understand why some maneuvers are banned here.
Oh, and by the way, I think the Su-30MMK in the list should be Su-30MKK, I think it's a typo on the Repulonap website.
AFAIK the MMK doesn't exist, and the MKM in my earlier post is also wrong, because that's the Malaysian one... (not that I don't want to see one of those )
