I thought his nickname at Soesterberg was "Porno-knues"
Oh well, could be; more nicknames were given to the same persons...
I think 'Uitpuil' is still active
I've seen him at Florennes, during a TLP press day in 2003. He behaved like a real moron, standing in front of other photographers with his tiny camera on a tripod... Not such a nice memory, let's return to the good ones!

Besides spotten I was sometimes at your home in Hazerswoude and we went regurarly to go out in Alphen a/d rijn at that time.

Wijgert IJlst wrote: Strange question perhaps, but can some one remember the explicit elderly guy from Baarn, with the big fantasy, which always came on his bike with "fietstassen" and gave away Hema-book to childeren and showed his scrapbook with WOII pictures...
Think his name was Gerard, but had several nicknames (non of which he listend to) like Albino, Spitfire, kinderlokker, and Opa Stucka...
Haven't seen him again after 1992 orso... but the periode before that always a commen sight at the spotting hill. Can any one remember this "strange" man aswell?
Sure do remember. Since I lived in Soest in those days, I sometimes rode home with him. I will always remember his story of seeing hundreds of B-52s during the war......
I think we also called hem 'Pet' (Dutch, not English) and the 'Dikke Amsterdammer' always asked him for his brother. Although I think he didn't have one....

Anyway, would 90's pictures fit in this thread? For me it would be fun to see those again, but it wouldn't be fair to highjack this thread for it.

Schffrs wrote:Wow, I remember the guy below "uitpuil"! He was a typical Ypenburg spotter, and his nickname was "marmotje" (because of his teeth, I guess).

Mazzels, Rob
Almost right !! His nickname was "Cavia" and this wasn´t because of his teeth. It was his hair ! ("porno-kneus" was his second nickname)

I love these nicknames :D
I know some more of the people already seen on pics here.
Example: as seen on the pic with "de patatboer", this Heico was called "Bignose" or Paul "Tsjoek, tsjoek" v/h Klooster, Peter "Pindarotsje" v. Hattum,
Jan "Janjanjnan" v. waarde, Rob "Er is nog soep" Scheffers.......etc. etc.

I love this topic

As the pic says, this is "Mr. Oke". He is named after the famous (at that time) Duyvis peanut-commercial, with "him" checking peanuts one by one..... okay, okay, okay etc.

Best regards,
Gerard

P.S. I do not have "fietstassen" and I am not from Baarn......

Sure looks like Wildenrath but should'nt the pic be flipped horizontally then?

PS Patrick van Stiphout 'was' SGE (not SGV) :-)
PS2 It's Marco Dirkx

Hilarious outfit!
Just my few pennies worth of thinking, but I think your reaction is a bit inappropriate, taking into account the seriousness of this whole thread. They did not do harm to anybody, walking around in that outfit. If you look at the other pictures of Martien and Roel in Metz......... that so-called "hilarious outfit" got them to places where others could just dream of.

Oh well, ......as long as you do not comment my hilarious Sinterklaas outfit further back  :o

Regards,
Gerard

Nice thread.
I also have one of those Nomex suits - they're quite comfy actually. You think I'm hilarious as well?

is a bit inappropriate
Like I said no offense. It just looks funny. I mean, AFAIK train spotters don´t wear trainconductors outfits do they?

Sorry to have offended anyone.

This day it brought me inside a Crusader !! Did you ever manage that ??

...and you can call me everything !! ...but never compare me with a trainspotter !!

Don´t worry....no hard feelings. I just think about places I have been with this outfit which other people will never see !!

Ehmm, I have been in a whole bunch of fighteraircraft and never in my life did I wear such a suit.

Anyway, it's just a sign of the times. In the eighties the bomberjacks were very common, nowadays you don't see them any more.
