That´s A-10 81-0983/SP, deployed with the 81st EFS. Anybody who can explain the confusing "81-1983" on the intake cover?

Hi Brian,

Were did you picture serial 0448? Only thing I serial could observe on pic#2 is a material code on the belly pilon.

Edit: 91-0448 doesn't exist

also present at that time was C-5A 68-0226 105th AW NY ANG

Do you actually mean 0100LT or perhaps 1300LT? In the latter case we must have passed each other as I logged the same a/c around 1300LT during a short stop between snow showers.
I did not see the second C-5 though but a heavy was holding behind the trees, because KC-135T 59-1512 burst a tyre on landing and the runway had to be cleaned first...

Actually is was 0100lt.... a quick tour over the field was made before checking in... The next morning there were quite hours affective, no departures or landings unless with special permission. The C-5A 68-0226 was not noted on the 22nd... so guess he was hiding for you behind the trees....

With POTUS in Europe will this E-4B stay at Spang until the return of POTUS to the States? Just like the one at Eindhoven. Sounds logical to me.

By the way Air Force One was also heard this evening, heading east.

The E-4B at Brussel departed to Copenhagen with the Minister of Defense on board.

Also noted at Spang today was C-17A 04-4127 from 305th AMW. This one came in around 19:30lt.

According to the following 52nd FW PA photo release, at least on April 1, 2008, the 81th EFS was still deployed to Bagram AB, Afghanistan: http://www.spangdahlem.af.mil/news/stor ... =123092823" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

BTW: As my PC software told me, this shot was really taken on April 1, 2008, as mentioned in the original photo caption. In this case, please forget the manipulated date (April 4) in the photo´s official VIRIN code.

But what I will tell you: That´s a further proof for the fact that the 81st EFS is really on a 120-day OEF deployment - as already stated by me above-, and not on a 60-day deployment as supposed by "Oscar01". This combat deployment is part of the ongoing AEF 1/2 (Cycle 7) rotation (January - April 2008). Also assigned to this AEF pair is the 303rd FS, 442nd FW (AFRC) from Whiteman AFB. But there are no signs that they shared this current deployment with Spang like sometimes in the past. And so, at least from my viewpoint: We can expect the 81st EFS "Hogs" back home at Spang probably in early May.

In the same context I will further tell you: "alexgoot" is also wrong with his "60-day comments" in case of the latest ANG F-16 "Rainbow Team", deployed for OIF to Balad AB, Iraq. In fact, only two ANG units share the current 120-day AEF 1/2 (Cycle 7) rotation - on a 60-day basis each - but with the same deployed fighter package (12 jets), including aircraft "borrowed" from a third ANG unit!
