Very good point!
Maurice wrote:Further more, and I stressed this last year as well, why are so many people who don't have any intention at all to join the event, the main complainers about this? Does anyone have an answer to this one? Anyone?
Hmm, this one I don't get... Where do you get his from? Just reading this post I see only one person 'complaining', and with reasonable arguments. And I cannot make up if he intends to join this event or not....

Sorry, next line only in Dutch, because all the participants will be Dutch:

Heard last night in the HAT coach to ILA, this year's spottersday at Florennes should have 40 Euro entrancefee. (and then you don't even have the benefit of becoming a member of a belgian spottersclub  ) Even an early-bird RIAT admission ticket is cheaper.

Well, this is how a friend from the Florennes Spotting Group has been treated by your superb Voorlichting Officers - great to see that there is much more international cooperation in http://www.scramble.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; than in the ridiculous planning of those officers.

I at least would never become member of an Dutch spotter society only to take part in this single event; I rather stay outside ...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sirs,

well, that is pure discrimination! There are thousand of Dutch spotters coming to Belgian and German airforce spotters day (sometimes even for free) every year.

But you, the Dutch Air Force, only allow for Dutch spotters?

I thought we are ONE Europe and ONE NATO!?

Best regards

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interesting in our Dutch Air show. I am sorry to tell but it is only possible to participate if you are a member of a Dutch Spotters association.

Maybe you are able to come to the Air show on Friday or Saturday.

I hope you enjoy.

Sorry to say so, but this is old news. It is up to you whether or not to join. If you join you can probably get in, if you don't join you will not get in. It is very simple.

Your friends conclusion is wrong, as stated before. No way foreigners are NOT allowed in. I quess there will be a lot of foreigners, but they are probably members of Dutch spotting groups. Dutch people will be denied access as well if they are not a member of the groups that have been listed here.

I am not defending the policy the air force has chosen, just trying to clear things up (as if that was necessary at all...).

Greetings,
Stefan

Richard, i do agree but if the rules are only dutch spottergroups, then it's only just dutch spottergroups... There is nothing to do about that... so the Voorlichting officers have nothing to blame about, only the people that made the spottersday possible

Hopefully next year, they will allow other spottergroups from europe...

Grtz.

Richard just look at it as an opportunity arranged by the Dutch spottergroups arranged. These spottergroups arrange dozens of visits to airbases around W-Europe, including Belgium. Belgians are not allowed in during these visits (unless they are group members). So your friend might also want to send some complaints to his own Air Force... :?:

It is great that Belgium has good spotterdays, but it's not a responsibility of an Air Force to arrange things for spotters so I think we should be happy with everything we get!
I at least would never become member of an Dutch spotter society only to take part in this single event; I rather stay outside ...
If you check the GRAS 'Event Agenda' for example you will notice that this is not the only event they arrange each year, there are 30+ other visits including some exotic! All included for the same price as a regular Belgian/French spottersday..

Well:

As I see it:

1) Voorlichting has been able in cooperation with one or more spotters associations to convine policymakers in The Hague that something extra has to be done.
2) Policy has been changed to make it happen, which is not a small succes but rather a bigger one
3) For now it has to be proven that it works benificery for the spotters, Dutch Defense and for the Netherlands in general.

So.. in my opion Voorlichting is only the messenger when they have you to inform that there are no possiblities at least this year. It is not up to them to grant access, this has to be done in The Hague.

So be happy with what has been accomplished this year and know it should only get better.....

Thanks for all of you who are making three days of spotting possible at Leeuwarden AB this year!!

And if you should wonder.... no I am not granted permission this year to acces on Thursday as I am currently not an enscribed member of an association. I am hoping for more acces for more people, without making the Dutch Open Day in to an three days event

Perhaps, as the matter discussed is only who is getting on and how is not, it time webmaster to close this thread. In that why we could return to the matter on hand some excellent plane-days whit all the latest news we could share within our community at scramble!

Scincerely yours all..

but i think it's still useless to join now richard, because some groups closed the application date of joining the spottersday at Leeuwarden.

(as i read it on the leeuwarden spottersgroup. GRAS spotters also closed the date and i just read at the spotterspage of Volkel that the date to participate was closed on 28th of may).

Sorry for bringing you the bad news, but i think it's to late now...

Grtz

As far as my information goes, the names had to be handed in at the ministery of Defense before june 2. I think they are now busy to check all the people that want to come for security.
