Have fun!
Thanks Patrick,

That makes it clearer for me.

For info, the full times for the display have now been posted (in Hungarian only) onto the show website. It's easy enough to follow, even though its not in English.

Looks like a good one - and the forcast I've seen says SUNSHINE :)):
Lets hope it stays that way!

What about security outside the base, any problems with them? I was thinking of visiting a couple of other bases as well, do you have any info regarding security, Partick?

The final 2 translations from the list -

NÉMETORSZÁG = Germany
HARCI KUTATÓ-MENTŐ GYAKORLAT (HUNGARY) - This comes up on my translator as "Struggle Explorator Rescue Practice" which in real terms should be a Combat Search And Rescue.

Well, you definately have to be careful. We left the airshow on Saturday evening and drove around the fence. This road was used to "empty" tnhe public parking lot, so many locals around. We stopped to read off the stored Fulcrums and within a few minutes there was a car with guards on the inside of the fence telling us to stop and wait for security. After a few minutes another jeep arrived on our side of the fence, and we were questioned what we were doing. In the end everything was fine, but it shows they are "itchy".
Good luck, and might see you there! :wink:

From what I can see on the map, Route 44 is at the Eastern end of the field. The sensitive area with the HASs is at the western end, so you should be ok.

If you're lucky, you may spot something that was considered as top secret even three years ago. It was revealed to the public on a rainy day in 2006 which marked the debut of the Hungarian Gripens. (Note: last year I didn't see it on the public display...)

This is the snow-plow of the HuAF. It's made of the VK-1 jet engine of the MiG-15 "Fagot" with the truck carrying the fuel for the jet engine.

Good spotting! :)
Photos in next post.

Maybe they were anticipating that its use was needed at the operational side to get rid of water after some rain?

Don't worry to much about that. Last year there was a 100 percent rain forecast. It was supposed to be truly miserable weather. I didn't see a single drop of rain all day but got a nice tan instead. Have fun in Hungary!
