Maybe because the weather was expected to improve at the end of the day? Even the big yellow bird came out then for a while. And yes, they announced there was a back-up plan. Maybe because they needed that apron, because the SKHV was expected. They had to put it somewhere. And the Tracker was to run its engines. Always the weather . Great back-up plan then with some great information that was shared. Hmm I can recall a very nice Dakota that day, were was it yesterday, that was flying, a Bücker Jungmann came in flying. Need any proof of that? The Mustang arrived in the morning and was placed on the gras opposite of the T2, and went there with its own power. Other action were a Rotation engine and 2 Fokkers that were ignited for us to watch. And this al happened in the middle of the day when there was a crowd.Which more actions? It's funny that when I visit a Aviodrome event they always blame the weather for not being able to do certain things, of course they are right sometimes but also sometimes I disagree, look at those Scandinavian boys who brought there Invader and the Mustang and DC-3's, those flew and it was the same weather that the Aviodrome people had.

- As stated multiple times before, it was not an airshow. It was a fly-in, and the number of participants for such an event is always subject to many factors.
- You bought yourself a ticket to the Aviodrome theme park and museum. If that is not worth 15 euros to you, don't go.
Having said that, I do understand your disappointment. I did not go either, because of the low number of participants and less than perfect weather. But that is just a decision I took, in stead of complaining here.
Rather try to find some reasons... What has changed since previous events, that did see Scandinavian DC-3s, the Li-2, the DC-6? Aviodrome and DDA are merging, and DDA used to be the 'great absent one' on Aviodrome events. Perhaps there is a clue in that?

That has nothing 2 do with it... there are some vague reasons for the absence in the last years...
but the absence of other aircraft is in my opinion just a money issue... old birds are getting rear in the air because of the fuelprices... and some things aren't that well arranged here as in the UK...

I was on the saturday at the Aviodrome and heard from lot of people that the found in boring . I had a very good day at the aviodrome , the wetter was good and a few people found that the airshow of Duxford much better than the this fly-in . I said to this guy you can't look at duxford and this fly-in als a same show because in duxford they organise this shows for many times and the aviodrome still a few times .Raymond wrote:It was a very boring airshow

That not al the planes can come to the aviodrome was because of the weather and so other people already said it wasn't an airshow but a fly-in and that is different .
I think the aviodrome crew tread to get nice planes to the fly-in but if the are to high in price and also the weather is bad (in the neabor) than the organisation cann't do anything about that .
I hope they will try to organise next year another fly in and hope that al the planes will come . And if we wanted to see more planes than we have to pay more for it but a lot of the spotters will stay than outside the museum to get ther pictures . I saw saturday some car standing when i arrive and when i leave they still standing there and don't get away from there the whole day .
i can only say next time better .

When they cancelled the helicopter fly-in in May (due to the number of fly-ins getting too high to organise), they promised to do it next year, so expect a helicopter Fly-in in 2009. As the Oldtimer drive and Fly-in is an anual event, that might be number two in 2009. And in that case you'd better keep that 15 euro's since you can see them every day @ EHLE outside the Avidrome.

I guess they'd invite some Chinook, Cougar, Apache, Lynx or AB412 for that kind of event. And maybe some helo's from EHKD. Probably also the police Bo105.
