Tribute to the Flash and the Streak
The last will be the first ! the final operational flight of Dutch Thunderstreaks was made by P-255 and P-179 on February 8th , 1971 , when they departed to the Hellenic Air Force (via Ramstein) ; note that the P-reg on the nose had already been deleted.

Tribute to the Thunderflash and the Thunderstreak
WANTED ! in September 2000 I took the slide of this picture to a photo-shop for printing ; although I got the print (of which this is a scan) , the original slide disappeared in someone else's pocket (most probably at the development center):
I never saw it again!
If anyone of you comes across the original by accident , please be so kind to contact me at my address. It is one of my favorites , photographed in 1968 by Frits Spangenberg , you know!

Tribute to the Thunderflash and the Thunderstreak
F o r t y f o u r y e a r s a g o , on August 17th ,1964 to be precise, I took this picture at Eindhoven AB ; it was made with my first photo-camera , a "Diana", entirely made of plastic , which I bought for two guilders and fifty cents
(that is about one Euro), hence the very poor quality !
Nevertheless I decided to post it here , because it shows P-177 , which was the last operational Dutch Thunderstreak in bare metal, stationed at Eindhoven.How times do change!

(3) Thunderstreak FU-20 at Beauvechain in 1970 ;
note the large digitals on the nose , which were later on replaced by smaller registrations and "Vietnam-style"camouflage ; this one , however, was an instructional airframe and was retained in its original livery .

(4) Thunderstreak FU-159 in "Vietnam-style" camouflage at Bierset in 1969 ; photography was allowed this time because it was an Open Deuren Dag (Open House) ; note the RF in the background plus a T-33 and a Magister

Tribute to the Thunderflash and Thunderstreak
This photograph shows the typical canopy construction of the Thunderstreak (photo 1); basically it looks very similar to the cockpit-design of the French Dassault Super Mystère as photo 2 shows.
I wonder who was first , Republic or Dassault?
Best wishes to y'all!

Hi all!
nostalgia at its utmost with a picture of the entrance sign of Eindhoven AB in 1968 combined with close-ups of the tail-sections of two Thunderstreaks ; all of them featuring the emblems of 314 and 315 squadrons ;
if somebody happens to be in the possession of emblem close-up pictures of Volkel-based Streaks , you are -as always-welcome to post them here!
so long everybody
Hans

Tribute to the Thunderstreak and Thunderflash
Hi to you all!
Twenty thousand views and counting : that's enough reason for a small celebration !
Well now : I believe it is high time to upgrade this Topic by pepping it up a little bit ; P-259 landing at Eindhoven in 1970 will do for the moment, I think.
This particular one ended its career with the Hellenic Air Force of Greece as 36797. It may still be preserved.
bye bye !
Hans

Re: Tribute to the Thunderstreak and Thunderflash
Don't bother Hans, I just love to see them, saw them in Greece but it was too tricky to go to the fence with a camera.bingo20 wrote:I must say,however, that I am more and more getting the feeling that I am performing a show on my own, that is to say a One Man Show for you and that is a pity !
All kind of people with 'schietpistolen'.
I love your one man show!
