Mikoyan, the easiest way is to check the Scramble airfield guide.
My favourite spot on Zurich is spot number 4.
And if you wish to know if it is legal, the simple clear answer is: YES, no problem. Actually, on some spots they even have holes in the fence to put your camera through!

Hi all,

does anybody know if observation deck B is still open, or has it been closed as it was set to be? Are any restrictions to be expected during the WEF late januari 2009? Any information in addition to Scramble's superb airfield guide is welcome!

Greets, Maikel
The observation deck on Terminal B at Zurich-Airport will be closed
definitely on November 1st, 2008. First the outer part of Terminal B will be
pulled down and later a new modern building will be erected. The
construction time will be about three years. A visitors terrace is planned
on the new shorter “finger”.

Between November 1st, 2008 and probably the end of the year, no observation
deck will be
available at Zurich-Airport. For more information check the website www
zurich-airport.com .

Bucher & Co., Publikationen – BUCHairTOURS - CH-8152 Glattbrugg has been
appointed to plan the operations of the aviation enthusiasts special ramp
tours between Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 and Sunday, February 1st, 2009
with a very similar schedule as in January 2008!
Starting mid-November 08, exact schedule, prices and procedures will be
published on our website http://www.buchairnet.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. At the moment, we can not yet
accept any reservations nor payments for the tours, therefore, please be
patient until November.

At the beginning of the new year, airport authority is going to open the
terrace on Terminal E (midfield) permanently. Daily every half hours a
shuttle will run between the visitor entrance / security check-point (about
100 meters south of Terminal B on street level) and the entrance of Terminal
E. All visitors have to pay entrance fees and pass the normal security there
You are free to stay on the observation deck Terminal E up to the last bus
back. Please check the website of the airport authority for more information
about the facilities on the observation deck of Terminal E.

Tickets for special ramp tours may only be bought through Bucher & Co.,
Publikationen, either electronically on the internet or in our shop,
buchAIRcenter, “Wilbur Wright”, Schaffhauserstr. 76, CH-8152 Glattbrugg
(pick-up) or last minute on the terrace at Terminal E. From, Monday January
26th, 2009 through Sunday, February 1st, 2009 BUCHairTOURS will have some
kind of temporary stand on top of Terminal E, in order to handle the special
bus tours and to sell last minute tickets.

This information will be updated whenever necessary.

spot number 4 is a good spot during take offs on runway 16 (specialy the havies lift off right in front of you)

spot 6 and 7 are good for landings on runway 14 and 16
