This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Noticed that immediately as well, anybody know what this is? It looks like a yellow and green disc on the right side of the aircraft (seen from the aircraft's perspective, left on the picture) above the cockpit windowsmitchell wrote:Nice pictures, but what is that yellow thing on the left side of the cougar on picture 2?

No idea what it is, all I know is that the other side of the disc is camo green, and more than one cougar flies around with it.

Actually, every Cougar has this type of ice detector. It's a placard and the colour changes in icing conditions.Redskin wrote:No idea what it is, all I know is that the other side of the disc is camo green, and more than one cougar flies around with it.

Re: EHGR 13-03-2009
The Cougars aren't alowed to fly without, because it's a backup system for the Rosemount icedetector. The placard is only visible from the pilotside, because it is placed on the inside of the bracket. From further away, on the RH-side you only see the backside of the green bracket. The placard on these pics looks brand new. After some weeks flying the placard looses it's bright colour. The bracket and placard are only installed on the RH side of the helo.kiwi wrote:No they don't, check pictures from yesterday.Fulcrum1974 wrote:Actually, every Cougar has this type of ice detector.
