Frisian Flag 2009 - participants

+ F-15 USAF operate from Lakenheath
+ F-18 unknown CX

This years Frisian Flag starts at tuesday 14 april 2009 and will end friday 24 april 2009.

Please amend when necessary!

But when I look on the SIS Summary there is a stripe over the Polish F-16's are they cancelled?

To make it even worse, with some bad luck the Eagles might operate from their homebase.. Or can anyone confirm they will be based at Leeuwarden?

Odd that the KLu has consistent problems attracting participants for this exercise, but also for FWIT. The Belgians seem to have far fewer problems filling up their exercises at Kleine Brogel. Or is it just me?

I long for the days when I was a teenager. With so many operational airbases close to my hometown, with many exercises and deployments. With so many aircraft painted in great colour schemes instead of present day boring-grey.

If only I would have had a car and today's photo equipment back then......

First time posting from the United States!! I was thinking about flying over to photograph Frisian Flag in April. After reading some of the posts, I'm wondering if it's going to be worth it. Can anyone give some insight on whether its worth flying over for? I'm hoping to get some help from you guys that have been over there before.

Don't bother coming over, red flag is better, as you can see in the topic above nothing special is coming.

With FF09 turning into a more-or-less domestic play, it's hardly worth while getting out of bed for, and with TLP moving down south, it will be hard (mainly as in even more costly and time consuming) to do some "regular" spotting of nice foreign birds. It's absolutely NOT strange (to me at least) why KLU has such a hard time getting attendants for either FF or FWIT (or even the KLu Open Days to a certain extend) if they hardly ever show up on other exersises themselves.. I know, easy to say from the sidelines, but IMHO current approach of the KLu doesn't pay off on a show or exersise level. But then again, the airforces are not there to entertain us spotters, are they?!

Thanks for the input. I a bit dissapointed to say the least. I was looking forward to flying over and getting some good shots. I hope TLP is a bit better then.
